Hello, friends!
November has arrived and the craziest time of the year is creeping in on us. If I have learned anything from my over-extended autumn, it’s that I can—and sometimes must—say no now and then.
Throughout 2024, I’ve maintained a simple daily habit of setting an intention for the day every morning first thing. One of the most frequent intentions I’ve set in the past two months has been to slow down. And then, in late October, I had no choice but to slow down after an unfortunate incident with a chair resulted in a broken toe. What a relief it was to clear some activities from my schedule because I simply could not do them with a broken toe!
So, with slowing down as my priority, I’m planning to make the holiday rush a season of gratitude. Instead of getting caught up in the insanity, my intention is to take things slowly. I hope you can find some peace in the chaos as well.
Currently the thing keeping me busy is NaNoWriMo. It’s still not too late to kickstart a writing habit this November. I’m sharing prompts twice a week in this sub-section of my substack, so check it out! You don’t have to write an entire novel in November to use the energy of NaNoWriMo in establishing a daily writing habit :)
I’ll be leading an in-person NaNoWriMo writing workshop at the Morse Institute Library in Natick, MA on November 7 and at the Groton Public Library on November 13. To sign up, visit the links on my website.
