Hello, friends!
I can hardly believe we’ve made to December, that month of nostalgia and coziness, reflection and reconnection, holiday cheer, and, perhaps, a little holiday sadness, too.
I just watched Inside Out the other day on a flight home from visiting my sister, her husband, and her six-year-old son. We watched Inside Out 2 together while I was there, and I liked it so much that I decided to watch the original on the plane. What a delight those movies are! They left me reassured that sadness has its place, too, even in happy memories, so go ahead and feel your feelings this holiday season, both the joy and sorrow.
As I don’t have children, I’m rather out of the loop of children’s movies, TV, books, etc., but enjoying children’s entertainment with my nephew over Thanksgiving was a real treat. How far children’s entertainment has come! My Saturday morning cartoons were Looney Toons beating each other up. My nephew’s are Australian blue heelers using their imaginations and learning how to be nice to each other. What a difference a few decades makes.
My nephew’s enthusiasm for reading left me inspired. Maybe writing and illustrating children’s books is in my future… Probably not fast enough for my nephews and niece to enjoy, but still, the creative wheels are spinning!
Now, onto to what’s happening in December:
On View Now
You can see my painting of a sunbathing cow on display at ArtsWorcester through December 15! The whole show is great, so if you’re in Central MA, check it out!
Learn with Me
This winter, I’ll be teaching Introduction to Watercolor through Two Bridges Art Academy. I’m so excited to share what I’ve learned with other budding artists. Absolutely no experience is necessary for this course, so if you’re interested in exploring this exciting medium, check it out.
All classes will be held via live Zoom sessions from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. You can join from anywhere in the world. Classes are not recorded, so content is only available during our live sessions. Work in the comfort of your home while learning in an engaged community. It’s the best of both worlds! The cost is $220 and includes 8 sessions for a total of 24 hours of instruction. Gift certificates are available. All details on the Two Bridges Website.
I’m planning to run a free paint-a-long in the next couple of weeks to test out my Zoom and camera set-ups, so stay tuned for an invitation :)
Art for Sale
I have a selection of paintings for sale now on my website. Original artwork makes a great gift! The last day to place orders for Christmas is December 10.
Thanks for reading, friends! I wish you all a joyful holiday season and a happy new year.
Cheers!
